David2.jpg

David is working on designing control strategies for grid-connected three-phase inverters with LVRT capabilities to increase system stability and reliability. He is currently studying current reference generators that simultaneously consider operative control objectives such as current limitation, optimal voltage support, mitigation of DC oscillations, among others.

Juan is working on modeling the occupancy in institutional buildings for optimal energy management. He is studying how to use low-cost sensors, variable classification techniques and novel algorithms to predict occupancy behaviour in order to minimize building energy consumption (e.g., the use of HVAC) while guaranteeing the users' comfort.

Andrés Salinas.jpg

Andrés is working on communication-less secondary control strategies for isolated microgrids with unbalanced and non-linear loads. He evaluates how the state-of-the-art control strategies operate in realistic microgrids scenarios and identifies how these strategies can be enhanced to ensure reliability in the presence of non-ideal three-phase loads.
